Butter Cup
Butter Cup is a basic training run that offers predictability and minimal stress for the horse. Run parameters are:
- Minimum Pause: Eight seconds.
- Maximum Pause: Same as Minimum Pause.
- Minimum Move Distance: 100% of the available working area or 100 feet, which ever is less. Zig-Zag mode will be activated on models that support this function.
- Maximum Move Distance: Same as Minimum Move Distance.
- Minimum Speed: Speed one.
- Maximum Speed: Same as Minimum Speed.
These parameters will result in a run that has a consistent eight second pre-move pause and makes long and slow moves in alternating directions.
Daisy
Daisy is a basic training run that offers predictability and minimal stress for the horse. Run parameters are:
- Minimum Pause: eight seconds.
- Maximum Pause: same as Minimum Pause.
- Minimum Move Distance: 100% of the available working area or 100 feet, which ever is less. Where available, Zig-Zag mode will be activated.
This run is identical to Buttercup except all moves will be accomplished at speed two.
Petunia
This is a basic training run that offers predictability and minimal stress for the horse. Run parameters are:
- Minimum Pause: Eight seconds.
- Maximum Pause: Same as Minimum Pause.
- Minimum Move Distance: Fifteen feet.
- Maximum Move Distance: Same as Minimum Move Distance.
- Minimum Speed: Speed one.
- Maximum Speed: Same as Minimum Speed.
These parameters will result in a run that has a consistent eight second pre-move pause and makes short and slow moves across the working area.
Rose
This is a basic training run that offers predictability and minimal stress for the horse. Run parameters are:
- Minimum Pause: Eight seconds.
- Maximum Pause: Same as Minimum Pause.
- Minimum Move Distance: Fifteen feet.
- Maximum Move Distance: Same as Minimum Move Distance.
- Minimum Speed: Speed two.
- Maximum Speed: Same as Minimum Speed.
These parameters will result in a run that has a consistent eight second pre-move pause and makes short and slow moves across the working area. This run is exactly identical to Petunia but makes all moves at speed two.
Beans
This is intermediate show run that offers moderate levels of difficulty. Run parameters are:
- Minimum Pause: Four seconds.
- Maximum Pause: Eight seconds.
- Minimum Move Distance: Twenty feet.
- Maximum Move Distance: Forty feet.
- Minimum Speed: Speed one.
- Maximum Speed: Speed three.
These parameters will result in a run of moderate speed with pauses from four to eight seconds; speeds from speed one to speed three and move distances from twenty to forty feet.
Bacon
This is intermediate show run that offers moderate levels of difficulty. Run parameters are:
- Minimum Pause: One seconds.
- Maximum Pause: Five seconds.
- Minimum Move Distance: Eight feet.
- Maximum Move Distance: Forty feet.
- Minimum Speed: Speed one.
- Maximum Speed: Speed three.
These parameters will result in a run of moderate speed with pauses from one to five seconds; speeds from speed one to speed three and move distances from eight to forty feet.
Deadwood
This is an advanced show run that offers high levels of difficulty. Run parameters are:
- Minimum Pause: One seconds.
- Maximum Pause: Three seconds.
- Minimum Move Distance: Twenty feet.
- Maximum Move Distance: Forty feet.
- Minimum Speed: Speed one.
- Maximum Speed: Speed four.
These parameters will result in a run that offers a mix of low and high speed moves with pauses from one to three seconds and move distances from twenty to forty feet.
Tombstone
This is an advanced show run that offers high levels of difficulty. Run parameters are:
- Minimum Pause: One seconds.
- Maximum Pause: Two seconds.
- Minimum Move Distance: Eight feet.
- Maximum Move Distance: Forty feet.
- Minimum Speed: Speed three.
- Maximum Speed: Speed four.
These parameters will result in a run that offers a mix of low and high speed moves with pauses from one to three seconds and move distances from twenty to forty feet.
Boot Hill
This is an advanced show run that offers high levels of difficulty. Run parameters are:
- Minimum Pause: Zero seconds.
- Maximum Pause: Two seconds.
- Minimum Move Distance: Six feet.
- Maximum Move Distance: Twenty feet.
- Minimum Speed: Speed three.
- Maximum Speed: Speed four.
These parameters will result in a run that offers short pause times coupled with fast choppy moves.
Custom Runs
You can easily create a custom programmed run to meet your needs. You may accomplish this by simply setting a few run parameters, including:
- Minimum and maximum pre-move pause times. As your programmed run progresses, pauses will be randomly set within the range that your specify. If you want predictability, set the minimum and maximum values to the same number.
- Minimum and maximum move speeds. As your programmed run progresses, move speeds will be randomly set within the range that your specify. If you want predictability, set the minimum and maximum values to the same number.
- Minimum and maximum move distances. As your programmed run progresses, move distances will be randomly set within the range that your specify. If you want predictability, set the minimum and maximum values to the same number.
Once these values have been set, your custom run will proceed just as any of our pre-programmed runs.
Run Modifiers
Show Mode
Step Mode
- The rider does not have to hold the button down throughout the move as is typical of remote programs. Simply click and forget, the Cutter will handle the rest. Now, you can focus on your horse and forget about what is on your hand.
- Pre-move pauses can be very short of last all day long. The key is that the Cutter will not move until you and your horse are completely ready.
Zig Zag Mode
Static Mode
When running a Pre=programmed or a Custom runs, you may select show mode. In show mode, all pre-move pauses, move directions, move speeds and move sizes will be randomly selected based on the program parameters.
Show mode is as close as you can come to working a live cow.
The Step Mode is a DallyPost original. When activated, the user may use the remote transmitter or the control panel to manually override the random pre-move pause times and move directions for pre-programmed and custom runs.
When a run is started with step mode activated, the Cutter will enter a pre-move pause and wait for user input before making a move. The user may end the pause and select the move direction by clicking the left or right button. Upon receiving the input, the Cutter will end the pause and attempt to make the next move in the selected direction. The only exception to this is when the Cutter detects that a pending move will result in a collision with the drive or idler pulley. In this case, the Cutter will continue to wait until a valid move signal is received. A signal for a move in the opposite direction will be valid.
This mode offers three unique advantages over standard preprogrammed and remote runs, including:
Personal note form the designer: This is my favorite training mode. I simply select a preprogrammed run that will consistently make moves with a difficulty level that will be a good match for my horse's abilities. Then when everything is in perfect readiness, I click the remote to make the move. I love the fact that I do not have to try to run the remote and ride the horse at the same time. The Cutter does the work while I focus on the horse. For me, it is the perfect blend of programmed moves and total control.
Zig Zag mode overrides random move directions that are normally associated with a pre-programmed run. When Zig Zag mode is active, the Cutter will attempt to make each successive move in an opposite direction.
The only exception to this is when the Cutter detects that a pending move will result in a collision with the drive or idler pulley. In this case, move direction will be modified to avoid the collision.
Static mode overrides the random move directions normally associated with a pre-programmed or custom runs. When static mode is activated, the Cutter will attempt to make successive moves in the same direction.
The only exception to this is when the Cutter detects that a pending move will result in a collision with the drive or idler pulley. In this case, move direction will be modified to avoid the collision.
