Is Ranch Versatility for everyone? In the real world, I would have to say no. In the real world the competition is fierce and those who cannot turn in a world class performance will simply be donating their money to those who can.

Ahhh, but in the DallyPost world, things are a bit different. The reason behind this is that ours is a training program where the individual horse and rider are the top priority. Our objective is to build the horse and rider into a cooperative and effective team and to provide friendly competitions that never loose sight of these goals. We believe that a little bit of friendly competition is a good thing, however, overwhelming competition is discouraging and destructive.

Our division system automatically guarantees that every rider, from flustered to finished, will always show against others who have similar skills and abilities. As a result, everyone from the greenest to the greatest will have an equal opportunity to show, place and win.

Our mentor program will provide you with a ongoing opportunity to get free help from those who are more accomplished. As you gain experiences and as your capabilities improve, you will have the opportunity to be the mentor and help another learn to enjoy their horse just as you have.

So, if you want to show in Ranch Versatility in the real world, ask yourself these questions:

  1. Do I have what it takes to show at top levels?
  2. Does my horse have what it takes to show at top levels?
  3. Am I willing to pay the training and showing fees associated with showing at top levels?

If you are interested in becoming involved in a program that has a unique and refreshing set of core values and beliefs, ask yourself these questions:

  1. Do you want to be involved in a program that will help you and your horse work better together?
  2. Do you want to be involved in a program that is affordable for the whole family?
  3. Do you want to be involved in a program where your fiercest competitors are your greatest fans?
  4. Would you enjoy the opportunity to learn from those who are more advanced and to help those who have not yet reached your level?
  5. Does fun and learning appeal to you more than the stress of high level competition?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then DallyPost just might the place where you can again experience the joy and satisfaction of horse ownership.

This past week I had the opportunity of traveling to Salmon, Idaho as a guest trainer for a 4-H horse camp. After four long days in the sun, I count myself blessed to have more than forty new friends, most under the age of fourteen. Oh, what an awesome group of young people. Truly, the experience... read more
